The video shows the deputies standing near their patrol vehicles when a man comes out of a garage and begins to open fire, wielding what the post described as a "illegal automatic rifle.". The back window of the lead patrol car was blown out by gunfire, but none of the deputies were hit during the incident. The deputies were unable to return fire “due to poor sight lines and concern that they couldn't see who else may have been inside the garage,” the post read. The man went back into the garage and came out firing several more times before he eventually walked out with his hand in the air and was taken into custody. He was later identified by authorities as 39-year-old Robert Fee. The suspect was facing three counts of attempted murder of a police officer, said sheriff's Lt. Mark Stichter. He was being held on $3,000,000 bail. “Miraculously, this incident ended without any injury to the deputies, suspect, or neighbors,” the Sheriff’s Department stated, adding that some homes near the scene were damaged by gunfire. The video was posted to show the dangerous and unpredictable job deputies often encounter, the Sheriff’s Department stated.
