Protect Whistleblowers: Investigate Hidden Wireless Surveillance Devices

The word "bug," as used in this article is defined as "a hidden microphone or other electronic eavesdropping device.". A disabled man became a whistleblower because he witnessed the abuse/robbery of elderly and disabled people in a facility funded by Medicaid and Department of Social and Human Service (DSHS) housing.  A couple days after the Assisted living facility where he lives found out that the man reported their abuse to agencies, a man who he never saw before came to his door, a couple days before Christmas, and said he just started work that day at the facility as a maintenance man and he urgently and immediately had to fix the overhead light that has always been broken in his apartment.  This was very suspicious because no other service calls had ever been made to fix anything (not one single item) in the unit and no service call, request or indirect mention was made to fix the overhead lamp.  The new maintenance man installed wires and also called up one of the men who attempted to rob a disabled resident (named in the Whistleblower report) to help him.  The overhead lamp was not fixed and is still broken.  However, the only thing that changed is that after that took place it seemed as if management at the facility had inside information on all his calls to adult protective agencies.  When he shared this information with friends and adult protective agencies, a special device (as seen in the video) to find and locate bugs (hidden wireless surveillance transmitters) and detect radio frequencies was purchased to scan the apartment.  As you can see in this video, the bug detector sounded a very loud alarm when it was scanned over the overhead lamp in question. As you can imagine, a broken overhead lamp should not give off strong radio frequencies. |--| This petition is simply asking the editors of several media organizations to investigate bugs (hidden wireless surveillance devices) in the apartments of Adult Care Homes and/or Medicaid and DSHS funded housing. When you help with this petition, you help ensure that people are able to continue reporting abuses in adult care homes and tax payer funded properties so that someday your mother, grandmother and other loved ones can have the highest quality of adult care home possible and never become a victim of abuse.
