Rolex Enforcer in Miami – Part II – The Watch Market in 2016

– Rolex Enforcer in Miami – Part II – The Watch Market in 2016. This is Part II of my interview of the Rolex Enforcer in Miami. In the first part, we mainly discussed fake watches. On Part II, we took a different route and focused on the watch market in general. Will smart watches dethrone the Swiss luxury watch industry. How many special high end watch editions can Swiss companies possibly spit out. These are some of the questions we will tackle on this video. In this high-tech world of ours where people clamor for information at the speed of light, smart watches are a big buzz topic – especially the iWatch from Apple. Now the iWatch comes even in a rose gold version, obviously an attempt by Apple to take some market share away from traditional luxury watches. Both the Rolex Enforcer and I feel that the Apple iWatch is cool, but will never replace traditional high end watches. The next topic of discussion was the TAG Heuer Smartwatch. Know as the Tag Heuer Connected, the smart watch retails for $1,500 and comes with different colored bands. The Enforcer mentioned that for an extra disbursement of $1,700 to $2,000, TAG is willing to pop a mechanical movement into the case once the owner gets bored of the high-tech gizmo. This is very interesting. It's like going Back to the Future, lol. Closer to the middle of the interview, we discuss the slowdown in the luxury watch market in 2015. Obviously the economy plays a role in the performance of cyclical industries like luxury, but the good news is that 2016 is beginning to show signs of a potential recovery. Hublot Watches and their Infinite Special Editions. We spend quite a bit of time during the video discussing all of the special Hublot editions in the market. It is almost as if the watch company has more special editions than regular editions. Maybe the next three special editions will be Donald Trump, Hilary Clinton and El Chapo Guzman. This is something that drives me (and the Enforcer) insane, and often times makes us yearn for the more traditional and conservative approach of companies like Rolex and Patek Philippe; companies that stick to their signature designs that have weathered the test of time. Despite all of the crazy Hublot editions, the Rolex Enforcer mentions that he likes the Hublot Fusion Chrono a lot better than all of the Big Bang special editions. I agree. Let me know how you liked Part II of the Enforcer's interview in Miami. Make sure to share it with anyone you know that's serious about luxury watches.
